|joneser||Let me know when and where! Maybe you can help with my heeling mental block. It's like he doesn't want to be next to me but he knows where I am and he doesn't want to go anywhere...just not heeling haha|

Jericho Day 27...pretty impressed
This boy has been 95% fantastic (nobody's perfect!). He's great off leash and will do anything for a tennis ball. Took him to a local park today with a creek, off the beaten path so it is nice for off leash fetch, wears him out faster than if it was just in the grass. After 30 min of working fetch with eye contact, sit/stays in the water, etc, made it back to the main trail and worked on sit/stay and down/stay in the foot/bike/stroller traffic. He's very motivated by the tennis ball.
Some bro-ski walks by, hears me verbally reinforce the "stay," and starts patting his leg! Making eye contact! I glanced at him (sunglasses prevented my piercing death-stare) and so did Jericho. But Jericho was unimpressed and looked right back at me like "ok he's gone...pay up with that sweet sweet heavenly tennis ball lady!" So proud.
Got him home, and he really needed a bath from the sludge at the edge of the creek...first bath as a Jones, in the tub, shower curtain closed. He cried and howled for 10 minutes while I sat on the edge of the tub asking him to get in. Finally scrambled over and sat there, took the rest of the bath like a champ, turned around when asked, picked up his paws, everything.
Now if I could only figure out how to teach him heel position...on leash he's unmotivated by toys or treats, unless I toss the ball for him. One day at a time I guess!
