Doc Have you tried Purina Vet Diet EN or Hills Prescription Diet I/d? I would also use FortiFlora enzymes with either of these products if all "toxic gut" tests are negative.
I know all the bad stuff about both Purina and Hills but these products have worked for me. I prefer the cans over kibble and several small meals spread over the day.

_Zero_ I agree with the others to check with your vet to see if a test for EPI has been done. You said you've tried steroids, antibiotics including Tylan, etc. which is usually the first course of action for something like IBD. It could be something like IBD-- my own dog has an autoimmune disease much like Crohn's in people and is treated with a medication called chlorambucil. He had chronic diarrhea and weight loss for months before we found the solution, but now he eats canned food and takes the chlorambucil and is doing great. He did not respond to steroids and antibiotics either (you can read about some of the things we tried in this thread:

Have you considered keeping a journal of sorts to write down what foods and supplements, etc. he gets every day, and then what his stools look like? This might help you connect a specific food, probiotic, med, etc. to his stools looking better, and might help you eliminate the things that 'trigger' his worst episodes and weight loss.

Food allergy testing might also be a good route, since so many dog foods and treats contain smaller quantities of ingredients that might be irritating your dog's GI tract.

The fluctuation seems interesting, though. It's possible he could have a latent case of giardia or coccidia-- both are very hard to detect in fecal samples, even with antigen testing. There are a few folks here on the forums that have had luck with this product: for chronic cases of diarrhea with no other diagnosed cause.

Our dog was at the vet every three weeks for diarrhea. I did some home cooked food for almost a week and realized she did well on it. The issue was I was concerned about her getting all the supplements and vitamins. I found this website and read about raw feeding. I was a bit afraid to try it, but a few others had mentioned the Honest Kitchen brand, which is dehydrated raw and that basically cured our problem.
It seemed our dog could not handle kibble - it may be the texture was too upsetting.
Im actually going to cook him some white rice and bland chicken for tonight. Im hoping this helps or at least somewhat hardens his stool.
his stool was completely liquid this morning so I'm hoping for anything.
