Security Question
While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, john and his friend sally both spotted a dalmatian inside a truck with sirens, headed to put out a fire. State what the 2x4 is made of.

kr16 Made in the USA does not mean the ingredients are from the USA. Simple trick a lot of people fall for. If you use foreign materials and manufacture it in the USA, its made in the USA.

Its always best to research the company and call if needed. Natural Balance also used taurine from China.

jocoyn Hate to tell you this but most vitamins and all added taurine comes from China. I don't want the super high protein either - 26-30% is my target.

They are also allowing processed chicken for human consumption to be raised over here, sent to china for processing, then shipped back without any indication that this happened and fish is routinely processed in China (that wild caught Alaskan Salmon).

Cara Fusinato For those for whom it wasn't common knowlege (I don't spend a lot of time repeatedly researching dog food as I work 12+ hours a day from home) -- just thought I would point it out. We are going with Acana because it has the bison/lamb combo that works really well in my shepherd. Earthborn does but it is higher in protein and I don't want super high protein.

Magwart Fromm has no ingredients from China:
No Ingredients from China - Fromm Family Foods

They've also never had a recall.

Pax8 From what I understand, there are quite a few so-called "made in USA" foods that have vitamins and minerals sourced from China and places like China due to expense. I think I saw a list of them on a thread a month or so ago. It was pretty common knowledge to me at least.

llombardo I read this quite a while ago. I thought it was common knowledge.

TOTW and Chinese Ingredients!

My dogs have done brilliantly on TOTW high prairie puppy for quite some time now. It's about the only food I have found so far that didn't give the grumbly tummy to the shepherd. I found this out today and I am DONE with TOTW. Going with the Acana Ranchlands over Earthborn's bison/lamb which is a bit higher in protein/calories/fat. We are not doing any ingredients fom China, esp. folate which has come tainted from China in the human market too. Ug. Sorry to report this for the TOTW fans . . .

Here's what TOTW postd on their FB page:

Taste of the Wild Pet Food Most of the ingredients in Taste of the Wild originate in the U.S. There are critical ingredients that are not available domestically in an adequate supply or with as much quality as our international supply. There are ingredients critical to our formulations (i.e. folic acid and taurine) that can only be sourced out of China. We believe not including these ingredients would not be in the best interest of your pet. We understand the concern of products sourced outside of the U.S. Food safety is our top priority. Our ingredients go through numerous quality assurance checks from the time the ingredient arrives to the end process of shipping to ensure the safety of our products.
