I found a 13 year old male pd GSD, that needs a home due to his owners being to ill to care for him properly. If he gets along with Marty our 13 year old Blind English Springer Spaniel they will live their lives out together. Marty is also going deaf. Thanks everyone for your love and support.
I want to say something. People here need to chill out on some of their responses to people. You (some people, you know who you are) need to be a little less aggressive and a little more supportive to people. With facebook and the number of GSD sites there, I think GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS are the worse for it. I don't think the rescues are getting the support and communications needed to get the rescued GSD into furever homes. Many rescues or needed rescues are lost in peoples pet photos on facebook. The last times I can here for help and finding a GSD in need. I found a dog in days. I found two dogs through this site. It has taken me a long 3 weeks to find a dog to help. Though he was not through this site. Please lets try and work together for the dog's sake. Please remember you never really know what someone else's life is like until you walked a mile in their shoes. Since we can't do that. Let's at least try and remember to treat people like you would like to be treated. I have seen some new member brutalized by members here. When I first came here it was like that to me. I think some of the worst offenders were removed or reminded to play nice with new members.

|misfits||Have you been on the "Rescue me" site? There's a nice looking young female listed over in spokane, wa. That may not be much of a drive, depending on where you live.|

PM a mod by clicking on the "!" symbol under your post -- they can fix it for you.
The AGSRA directory lists the following rescue as serving Idaho:
Northern Utah German Shepherd Rescue: Northern Utah German Shepherd Rescue in logan, Utah adopt a pet
They may have fosters in Idaho, if they work across state lines. That's not uncommon in the rescue world. Contact local country shelters that are close to you and let them know what you are looking for -- you'd be shocked how often purebred, nice GSDs end up in shelters because of people moving, puppies getting too big, not having time for them, etc.

|msstone||I found I should not have said anything about the ring on ebay. Sorry I tried to edit it but because I already edited something in that message I was unable to. Sorry for my mistake.|

|msstone||Hi All: This is an update. I am still looking for an adoption. I think that fostering may be the answer. Though I am not sure. Some days it seems the universe is not working with you and what you want. I saw some dogs on the coast of Washington. I got confused my friend lives on the coast and it takes her 7 hours to get here. I forgot she has to take a fairy to get to the highway. Any way. It just seems like things are against us. June July August and part of September are hard times for me to take long rides. The hwy asphalt out gassing from the high temps. Make me very sick I sometimes pass out from the aphalt. So I limit my driving. Also our car is waiting on a part for our headlights that was recalled. The Mercury dealer is waiting on the part to arrive so we have head lights that only work some of the time. So no night driving. We are cash poor. We have money but should not spend it. We are trying to buy a different house. Hopefully a permanent one. So our funds are tied up for that. I have a diamond ring 3 stone before during and after ring of love. It is listed on ebay under msstone as seller. Someone buy it then... We can rent a car and go the 250 miles to the coast and back. Get us a rescue GSD dog. I am so frustrated. My heart is broken and I know a new dog will fix it. Again anyone know of a pb GSD in eastern Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Please let us know. Must get along with a 13+ yr. old English Springer Spaniel... Marty who is blind and going deaf. He misses Misty very much. Maybe I should wait until the fall. Thanks Merle|

take a rest, take care of yourself...the right dog will come along.
my feeling is that it will not be possible to get cooperation or coordination between the sites, i think it's just expecting too much when they're run by various and diverse groups. actually you have to be very careful when dealing with, or working in, rescue these days, it's not what it used to be, lots of unsavory characters.
are you in idaho, why did i think pacific northwest? my time online is limited, which prevents me sometimes from going back into threads and getting info, sometimes i just have to ask, lolol...

|msstone||Hi Katie and thank you for your suggestions and support. I find out why this forum is not too active in the rescues. People are listing them on German Shepherd Nation and German Shepherd lovers and German Shepherds den on Facebook. People are putting rescues there where they get lost, in among photos of people's pets. I am hoping that maybe German Shepherds.com could co-ordinate with these sites: to not accept rescues or to have them put into both sites or all sites. What ever serves the dogs best. I looked for an hour on two of those sites found a few rescues but got frustrated because this should not be difficult. Pet finders is just as bad since you have to look at all the mixed bred dogs too. So I pulled up over 3000 dogs on pet finders. Many being mixed breeds. So many of the purebred dogs did not get seen because of having to look at all the mixed breeds. My health is not doing to well right now since this is asphalt season right now and it makes me very sick. I am stressed out trying to find a GSD rescue and it being the right dog. It was so easy before when I came here in 2000 and 2003. I found Nova and Misty in just a couple of days with me posting only a couple of times before someone know of a dog for us. Thanks all.|

hi msstone, the rescue section of this board is not very active anymore. thinking of a new dog so your girl would not sense your anguish is a wonderful concept (in a non-wonderful situation), and one i will have to remember.
i am from michigan, so my knowledge of your area is limited. what comes to mind, is that if i was where you are, i'd look into reputable rescue organizations in northern california, oregon and washington. i'm thinking there are likely volunteer and/or paid transport organizations in your area, as there are here and in the south. i would also research shelters and/or humane societies in that area, and particularly watch for "shelter favorites". shelter workers are in a unique position to advocate for dogs who are just all around really, really great dogs...behavior and personality wise. and i would be reluctant to use facebook or craigslist at all. well, that's all i got in the time alotted for my short sunday break, lolol...be patient, and check everybody's references, and then check again...best of luck to you in finding just the right dog.
and...i'm so very sorry for your loss...RIP misty, sweet girl.
