jafo220 How old is the pup? Have you considered attending some training classes? This can help sometimes and a trainer can show you how to set up boundaries for good behaviors. It's worth the investment in the end and you can interact directly with the trainer and the trainer can see exactly how your correcting and make adjustments if needed. Not all dogs learn the same exact way sometimes. Sometimes your approach in training may need tweaking.

Pattycakes I agree with Danielle...give your pup something else to do and show him what is acceptable to play with.

DJEtzel Are you just telling him not to do all of these fun things, or are you giving him other things to do instead? Alternate behaviors like playing tug with a toy & you, sitting for pets, hand touches, etc. are very useful to let the puppy know exactly what you're looking for while keeping him happy and motivated.

Fezzik von barry I have a 5 mo. old at home and am still learning his behavior myself but I can tell you have the same issue in my household with the pup, my husband and the dog. He is still learning and I guess it would be unfair to think I was going to have a perfectly trained puppy at 5 months (My last Shepherd mix was ) but its frustrating to say the least.
His worst habit right now is that he barks and barks and bites me when he wants attention. I play with him NONSTOP and its just never enough. He barks at my husband but doesn't get mouthy with him.
I have hired a personal trainer and our lessons start next week. We made this decision not because he is a bad dog and completely disobedient, but because we decided to put the time and effort in towards the beginning so we can enjoy a stress free lifetime of happiness with him (I have read that its important to train GSD right at the start). Good Luck with your GSD and keep us posted

Puppy just doesn't stop...

Hi guys, 3 weeks ago I got a german shepherd pup who is gorgeous and I already love very much! I've had puppies before and it's not that he's unusually bad behaved, but he just doesn't listen to me. He bites ALL the time, is awful when people are eating and chews EVERYTHING.

I know all this is normal and that he'll soon learn not to, but whenever I try to correct these behaviours he takes no notice and yet he will always take notice of my partner!
I've tried everything to stop him from biting/chewing but nothing works except my boyfriend telling him no firmly. I have tried to copy exactly what he does, even his tone but it doesn't make any difference.

So my question is, how could I make my puppy listen and respect me as much as he obviously does my partner

Thanks in advance guys!
