Looking for a Black German Shepherd
Color isn't everything, but I would strongly prefer a Black German Shepherd from a breeder on the East Coast. I'd also like it to have a strong head and have high hindquarters.
The dog would ideally be for companionship, in a household with a yard for it to run, and no children. Occasionally I hunt and do other outdoor activities where I would like it to accompany me.
This would be my first GSD, but not my first dog. The big concern I have is to make sure I find a dog that would be happy in a household environment, with me going to work, and occasionally traveling. It would be social, and have higher hindquarters than the popular GSDs seem to have (I don't know much about the terminology, but a lot of them seem to have slanted rear ends).
Where should I start looking, and do you guys have any recommendations for breeders that might be able to fill all these criteria? I'm not 100% sold on solid black, but I'd like a darker color if possible.
I appreciate your help, and will be happy to answer any questions I can!
