SuperG Chuck a little pumpkin 100% mush in their meal if you choose....see if that changes anything.

Mrs.P I would fast and then feed chicken with a higher bone% (chicken quarters)to firm up stools. Once he is regular introduce the lamb slowly with bone then slowly dial back on the bone %

Harry and Lola Lamb can be quite a fatty meat, but imo a better source of protein than beef.

Keep an eye on his weight, if he starts losing weight and has diarrhoea mucus stools, test for EPI.

Before Harry was diagnosed with EPI and constantly had bad poops I used cornflour mixed in with some water and added to food, this seemed to help a bit, otherwise some people have success with cooked rice (if you dog can tolerate grains) and cooked pumpkin.

Dakota@Ca Thanks. I will look into that.

He had all diarrhea today, which of course is a big concern. One of the reasons I switched to RAW were his big stinky and loose stools.

I also fed him for the first time since we started RAW 2 months ago ground Lamb, so maybe that triggered it. Anyway, I will just feed chicken breast tonight.

One more question: With diarrhea, would you suggest to feed cooked rice for a meal or two? That usually helped when he was on Kibble.

Thanks
Simone

blackshep Could be too much organ meat, or maybe not enough bone?

Alternatively, he could have a sensitivity to certain protein sources.

Harry and Lola Maybe too much organ? Otherwise if my two have had too much bone, their poops will be hard and then very soft

Raw Food and partially loose stool

I have been feeding raw for about 2 month now. I did notice that the stool was reduced and harder than it has ever been on kibbles. However, it happens quite frequently that the first part of his stool is hard and well formed, and the rest of it comes out very soft. It does not happen all the time, but I am a bit concerned about it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Simone
