|Galathiel||You might see if you can get your pup interested in 'chasing' a toy. Get a stuffless stuffed toy (usually they are long and fuzzy .. and flat) and drag it along the ground slowly and try to entice the pup to chase. Sometimes also little quick jerky movements back and forth will interest them. Always let the pup catch it and hopefully it will enjoy a bit of a tug on it with you. Eventually then you can move up to a flirt pole.|

|Phantom||Jinx wouldn't play with toys, except my hula hoop, when she was little. She liked to chase me and rough house a little but not much. I had to clicker train her to pick up a tennis ball, and work slowly until she would bring it back and eventually fetch it when I threw it. Now at 11 months she is still really calm and will just lie and watch everyone if you don't want to play, but she is always ready if you decide to play. So hopefully your puppy will get more playful.|

|KHLOE||It is pretty much just one on one time all the time I think I bore her to death just throwing a ball while she looks at it. She tries to go upstairs to play with the other dogs because I uninterested her so much I have tried everything Luckily she is training great she knows just about everything their is to know but If I am not training her she wants to go play with someone else she will not play anything with me and I try very hard!! she is 4 months. She should love playing with me and she loves being with me she kisses me and loves when I rub her belly and train her I am the only one who feeds her often by hand I am the treat machine I am the only walker just doesn't want to play with me... I guess in her mind Humans are not for playing...|

|Msmaria||My puppy was a very calm puppy. very smart and so easy to train. I thought I scored. now at 14 months all he wants to do is go go go and play , play , play. At 10 pm we come inside and i put my foot down, no more playing lol. he will throw himself down and grumble. Sometimes it takes a while for these dogs to develop their prey and play instincts , so Ive learned. Give him a little while and keep encouraging him, he will play with you, even if it takes a year like mine.|

How old? Take the pup alone and play. A lot of one on one time

I'm sure you have read the multitudes of new puppy owner's posts which are polar opposite of your situation.....I guess you have a calm puppy which needs a less than obvious form of stimulation.
I will say, your situation is very unique....I have absolutely no experience with the pups I have had over the years which was remotely close to yours.
As long as the pup is healthy, alert, curious and looking to you for leadership, I would hope all is okay,

Puppy that doesnt Play.
My puppy will not play with anything. She just stares and looks at me. She likes to learn new tricks which is good but its because she likes the treats so I try and teach her fetch she just stares at me. I Have 4 squeak toys of different varieties a toy that you put a plastic bottle inside. A Frisbee several different types of balls for catch. A kong toy... NOTHING works she licks the food out of the kong but wont play with it. I have no idea what is wrong with her.
She loves to play with other dogs just not me maybe that is the problem I socialized her too early? Even on walks she likes to sniff but mostly likes to lay in the grass and watch people. We got her because she was calm but this is a little extreme.
