Thank you! Yes, he blew that jump because of the offset go-out (common green dog problem). I trained offset jumping for that very reason, but he obviously saw no reason to make the effort for the bar jump when he had a perfectly good one right in front of him! We will be practicing that a lot before our next trials.

You have a long list of titles! It's too bad that the barking and wailing stop you from going for the UD. It really gets on my nerves when Timber gets going and makes it hard for me to keep my focus. I would like to try for a UDX after getting the UD title, but if I don't get a handle on this barking, I'm not going to put myself through that.

Karla LeoRose, I've been doing run throughs every Saturday for months now and he can work quietly or with just a couple of barks, but it's going in the actual trial ring that brings on this excessive barking.

I can't duplicate the stress in practice to teach him he can work through it quietly.

It's almost like he hates the parts that he has to be still and is telling me about it. If he's moving, he's happy.

So, now I am going to create frustration to cause the barking and try your method of stopping the fun when it happens.

Kayos and Havoc I did not watch the video yet as I am at work. Re: the barking. I have tried many things to get Havoc to quit the noise too, including LeoRose's suggestion and nothing has worked. This is why we have no UD, I don't want to deal with it, it drives me nuts.

LeoRose Are you lucky enough to live in an area that has matches and/or show and goes? If so, take advantage of them. (Disclaimer: the following is all theory on my part, not actual experience, but it might be worth a shot, at least.) Go through the routine, and see if he starts barking. If he does, stop whatever you are doing, cross your arms, and turn your back on him. Repeat as needed. With any luck, that will get across the point that barking stops all the fun.

We gave it a good try and he blew it on the last jump!

If you watch the video, please turn down your volume! His barking is bad! Sure glad we didn't get booted out of the ring for it.

This barking has always been a problem. He can be fairly quiet in training and run throughs, but it resurfaces in the ring every time.

I don't know if it's his excitement or he's reacting to my anxiousness and nerves. Maybe it's just a part of who he is. He knows "quiet". I can do things to cause barking, like getting him excited for a toy and he will quiet immediately for that. I make him quietly wait to go outside, quiet to be fed, etc. but have had no luck in the ring.

If anyone has any ideas, please share!
