|dogfaeries||The protein under 20% and leash only exercise sounds like something that might have to do with weak pasterns. Did your vet say anything about his pasterns?|

MaggieRoseLee makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't dump your vet. I'd call them back and be clear about the advice they are giving you.
Sometimes us humans have a way of hearing 'part' of what the vet is telling us. At some point our minds wonder off into panic mode and miss out on what is actually being said.

Unless your pup has some major sign of injury/disease, it shouldn't be necessary to be so restrictive with a puppy. Let him play and get strong. Of course you manage his play though. Not a whole bunch of jumping until he is older and his bones have matured more. Don't take him running with you, but he can certain fetch a toy in short spurts.
Too much restriction sounds harmful to me... jmo

WHY and what is he seeing? What does he think is wrong?
What does your BREEDER say? Is the entire litter a wreck with hip dysplasia or were the parents all OFA'd and litter come with a guarantee? What do they recommend and can you send them a video to look at what the vet is seeing?
Could he be just wanting you to give a bit of a rest cause of pano?

UNDER exercising causes as many bone/joint problems as OVER exercising. Frankly, high impact stuff (like jumping up to catch a ball) is something I'd avoid until their growth plates are done growing. But distance isn't an issue.

|wyoung2153||if he keeps saying he doesn't like the way he's walking, then ask why.|

|wyoung2153||I mean, if you take him for a 6 mile run.. any excessive really isn't good for their joints right now.. it's more like keeping low impact. So no jumping on things. No jumping up and down stairs for a bit, or jumpin over things. Walking, even slow short jogs, fetch, running around the yard, etc.. normal puppy playtime, is not going to harm him.|
