RubyTuesday Personally, I'd seek a 2nd medical opinion on this before doing it. The understanding of what are appropriate protein levels has changed greatly in the last couple of decades.

NancyJ This is a search for low protein dog foods on Dog Food Advisor

Low Protein Dog Foods

It is a controversial topic with which I have no experience. May want to check with Carmen (user name carmspack) on this topic. I believe she has given helpful info to a lot of folks with dropped pasterns which I think is related to the overall issue.

SunCzarina Vets don't get a lot of training in nutrition. More hours with sales reps trying to sell them food for the office. Think about how many bags of SD you see at the vets vs brands like Blue or Taste of the Wild or what I feed, Fromm.

sehrgutcsg Can't say I agree with that advice.

At a minimum 25% for a young puppy and perhaps' 28% protein. Might consider a second opinion ?

My dog is growing so fast the measuring tape is even surprised, it's running out of number's.

Some of these vet's are a few sandwich's shy of a nice picnic basket...

Good brands of food?

We took Rosco to the vet and he advised dog food which has 20% or less protein in it. So do any of you guys know of a good healthy brand like that?
