KönigLeupold Hey all - "the noob" or, as SunCzarina refers to as possibly being the "...one person in 100 who makes the breed look bad", is back. :-)

We stopped going to the dog parks for about a month and continued to play with friend's dogs in nearby fields, eventually reintroducing the dog parks. While at the parks I remained ultra vigilant in watching Leo (not that I never was, this time it just involved basically stalking him the whole time) and we were able to work out the issue. Any time a pack of dogs started to play roughly I would recall Leo and I would make him sit by me until the pack dispersed. It wasn't too long before he started looking directly at me any time a pack of dogs got together and started to get rough. At this point, in that situation, I either recall or in a lot of cases he will just run away from the pack and toward me. Seriously, these dogs are so amazing.

I did switch up the parks though too... I stopped going to the park where we had most of our issues and found a new one that has a great layout and a lot of great people and pups. We've gone at least twice a week for the lat 4 months or so. Leo spends most of his time cowering from the Great Danes (bad experience when he was a pup) or herding the Poodles... but overall it's a great experience and I am happy to have this option again for exercise and socialization.

he is in play mode
He is playing a raptorial game, imagining himself a big wolf and the other dog to be a piglet. Train recall in such situations, "well-nigh perfect recall" isn't good enough - blood out of his nose, earthquake, whatever - he must come when the game is at its hottest.

Msmaria Noob = newbie or inexperienced. I wouldnt mind if someone called be a noob. Boob, now maybe I would be offended by that.

Well Okay Then! Off you go and good luck with that. Please don't be the one person in 100 who makes the breed look bad.
