If the dog has demodex you shouldn't be running the dog . Her immune system is already depressed allowing the mange mite to gain hold .
an 11 month old dog should have no difficulty running on pavement .
what matters is did you condition the dog prior to starting this exercise. you can't start cold turkey idle to running beside a bike.
when on that bike the speed should be even , no spurts , and be at around 7 miles an hour
back to the demodex , you can't have a dog running around the house with a cone to prevent scratching.
I recommend DEFENDEX shampoo VETiONX® Defendex? - Skin Soothing Pet Shampoo
then you need to address diet . Add some MSM , sulfur to the diet .
NONE of these will affect the demodex "We give her some allergy support pills, benadryl, medicated shampoo, and advantage multi. We have switched to blue buffalo grain free."
the immune system needs to be built up
stop the exercise for the time being

|Bijgish||Same thing happened to my pup just a week ago. I got scared so I took him to vet the very next day. He checked and said the puppy may have just pulled/strained his muscle. After few days my pup was still limping so I went back to the vet and insisted on X-ray. The X-ray was fine (meanwhile I started my pup on Truemeel, homeopathic medicine for joint and muscle soreness) vet did not to give any painkiller however Truameel seems to work really well. Oh and plenty of create rest. I would rest for few days if he is still limping I would take it to the vet. Hope this will help.|

|Gretchen||I can't speak about the mange, as for the limp it could be a soft tissue injury, sore muscles, a sprain or a strain on a tendon or ligament. Rest your dog, meaning just take it out only for the bathroom and a 10 minute walk or less depending on how your dog is acting for a few days. If you had anti-inflamatories I'd give them too. If no improvement after say 3-4 days, I'd see your vet.|

My dog is limping after yesterday's long run.
Unfortunately I did not read info about dogs running on paved surfaces and the age they should be able to start running with you. My dog is 11 months old and yesterday i was on a bike and she was running and we did maybe a mile or two on a paved surface. She did well. Just to clarify I am now stopping any running with the bike until she is at least 18 months. Maybe just walks for now. Anyway now today we have noticed she is trying to keep pressure off her front right paw. We checked her paws and there were no cuts or anything sharp there.
We have only done wellness checks at the vet. We rescued her from SPCA. She usually wears a cone around the house or when she is outside because she has been scratching too much due to demodex mange.
My general question is what could be causing her limping? We have only took her on a run one time. We have a grooming appointment on thursday and i will have them double check her paws to see if there is anything i missed. If the problem continues i will take her to the vet.
Second question. Anyone else ever deal with demodex mange? We give her some allergy support pills, benadryl, medicated shampoo, and advantage multi. We have switched to blue buffalo grain free.
I appreciate any help!
