Mala Nothing wrong with that. I've given mine raw bones since 10 weeks! She's a hardcore chewer and loves it!

wolfy dog Mine have always gotten the large knuckle bones, no matter their age or stage they are/were in. I tzke them away when they get to the bone itself. I try to get full size beef joints with a lot of meat and tissue still on them. Not the itty bitty ones form the grocery stores, sold as soup bones, to prevent choking.
But how about meaty bones for their diet while they are teething during the small time frame that there are no big crunch molars? How does that affect their diet? (Sorry, didn't want to start an new thread as this seems to be related?)
I wonder how he will handle the chicken backs if his teeth come loose/out.

Apoolutz He's been getting raw bones since he was 8 weeks, I wasn't sure if it would damage the knew teeth coming in because he's a an aggressive chewer, just wanted to double check, thank you!!

We started our dogs (when they were pups) at 8 weeks old.
There are over 150 muscles in the jaw that help strengthen the ears with all the tugging & chewing plus helps with teething. Limit the time he gets the bone in case of gut upset from the marrow or small pieces of bone fragments. Increase time as you see fit. You can store bone in freezer in-between times.

onyx'girl Why not? Most pups still want to gnaw...I think it helps sooth them when they are hurting, and will self regulate his recreational chewing if it pains him. Better to use the softer knucklebones than harder antlers or marrow type bones.

So Gunner has some big boy teeth coming in, is it ok to give him his raw knuckles bones or should he stay away from them for a while?
