stmcfred What breeder did you get her from? If it was a reputable breeder and you have her pedigree I'm not sure why you'd be questioning it, just because other have said she looks and acts like a Mal. I have people tell me my LC looks like a mix. But I know where I got her from and not reason to doubt it.

Some people just aren't familiar with any other GSD that isn't a black and tan stock coat.

Bob_McBob Based on what people ask/tell me about my dogs, my last GSD was a black lab, and my current sable GSD is some sort of wild dog/wolf/Malinois hybrid. Your dog has papers, a full pedigree, and it sounds like the breeder is reputable. She has very strong sable GSD markings. It really doesn't seem like you should be worried about anything.

TommyB681 Looks GSD. I was going to say the front profile of her face maybe but when I saw the side profile she looks all GSD in regards to head shape.

SiegersMom Most people also have no idea what a sable GSD is. They will see one and think it is a mix because it does not look like Rin Tin Tin. Sables are becoming more common but only GSD lovers really know much about them. Your dog looks very nice

SiegersMom Head shape and color look just like the GSD I had hoped to get a few months ago but she was picked as the breeder pick. I still see the dog so I know what she is growing into. You have a GSD don't worry about that. Mals are normally much lighter colored to. I've only seen a few mals with a dark body color. Sable GSD's will go through really light stages but then darken back up.

Castlemaid A lot of working line GSDs are smaller framed and lighter boned - depends on the lines.

I think world news coverage and TV documentaries have brought the Belgian Malinois out from obscurity into mainstream awareness, and everybody likes to think they can spot a Malinois or Malinois mix.

Your dog looks GSD to me also. I don't see an Malinois in him.

Baillif If i was paying for a pure gsd and got papers and a mixed breed dog id be pissed. Unless the dog turned out to be a total stud but even then.

GatorDog That is definitely a GSD. Their temperaments can be similar, and a working line GSD and Malinois can be similar in drive. But your dog is definitely not a Malinois.

mcdanfam Ours do have high work, play, and prey drive. They are crazy energetic and never seem to get worm out. They are always ready for more.
Best thing we ever did, was find the 3rd trainer we started seeing. He knows GSD's and Mal's...owns both breeds. He works them and knows how to challenge them.
I agree with others...find someone who knows how to work and challenge them....they need to be challenged or they will never get tired. Super fast learners....they can master a new trick in 30 mins but can be a challenge for the same reason. Our females watches us do something a couple of times and knows how to do it. Her new thing, she goes to the door to ring the bell to potty...if she sees the security bar (bought because of her) is not in the sliding door, she will ignore the bell, flip the lock with her nose, put her mouth and the handle and pull the door open....:-//// We have to really make sure the bar is always down...

Ours went through a very light phase and had a dark ring around the top of the tail and a darker strip down their backs, really dark faces and lighter body! Everyone asked if they were Mal's....after 6-months old...they returned to their very dark color and have continued to get darker...if you want to see the stages ours went through...I can show you stages of color changes...

Yes, I think she looks a lot like yours, and mine had a thick black stripe down her back but its gone now I thought it was cute. But I really do enjoy watching her patterns change. Its amazing.
