OUbrat79 Since this is a photo thread if wanted to ask all you shutter bugs a favor. I am trying to start back my photography business. I have a page on Facebook but I'm having a hard time getting likes. If you all could look up 210 Photo and like my page it would really help out. Thanks.

DJEtzel I used to have a D60 - now I have a D5000.

These are the best I've got... what I would consider my best, anyway? Mostly dogs, of course. I would love to get better for sure. Better equipment/editing software would help a bit.

yeah... haha.

I definitely got lucky - I had never seen the skies so clear before, but we were a way's away from town and out on the lake/beach house. I was really blown away by how clear the skies were and how many stars were visible. I was actually inspired to break out the 11-16mm for once (I'm normally scared to use the wide angle)!!

It wasn't a full blown color splash because I was out after midnight and even the trees looked pitch black, but when I brightened the image, those were the colors I got!! I bumped up clarity and sharpness and some of the blacks and added a graduated filter for the water (it turned out to be a gross looking green)... but did not touch the saturation or vibrancy. Actually had to tone down the purples/magentas in one of them, but only by a little because I like the colors!

I remember thinking that it was the milky way when I was out that night, and looking at some of the other pictures from that evening, I think it is.

I FINALLY got a XQD memory card. For some reason Nikon switched over to one XQD and one Compact flash on the D4. And all I had were the CF. Those XQD cards are ridiculously expensive!!! I guess that serves me right for having such a high end camera

I need to start doing that, the resizing automatically thing. I still use PS to image process my exports folders and resize them, but it'd be so much easier if I just had LR do it! That ALSO reminds me that I need to buy a couple more hard drives, preferably 1 tb or 2 tb. Ran out of room very fast on my 1 tb hard drive and I really should have backups for all my RAW/original files and larger versions of processed images.

And OUCH to the price tag on that card!!! Wow!! As if the camera itself wasn't expensive enough...

I did, especially because I also did a little bit of sharpening I should remember to start taking screenshots of the tweaks I made in LR so I could get critique and suggestions on my editing. It's a whole trial and error thing for me!

I use a desktop. Though I also use Photoshop with Lightroom. I only have 4 MB ram so my computer can be real slow. I'm upgrading my computer though. 16 MB ram here I come! Haha

Fantastic!

Do you shoot in RAW? Curious mind here.
It's incredible! So glad for post processing, it's saved me some great images that I wouldn't have taken a second look at otherwise. I do indeed shoot RAW, although I have it set to RAW+JPEG, for when I want to share the image SOOC because I'm too lazy for editing. Really can't this kind of information recovery with JPEG though!

A couple more from the same batch. "Before" images were also virtually pitch black.
