This isn't about the time the dog is in the crate. Clever. Bored. Full of unused energy.
This is about what needs to be done when she is out of the crate, for HOURS each day. The miles of off leash walking. The hours of dog classes. The trick training. Engagement activities.
Keeping a GSD pup both mentally and physically engaged so when they are crated they SLEEP, rest and relax is our 'job'. And the fact it is alot of work is, frankly, why I rarely if ever recommend a GSD to anyone who asks.
So sign up for more dog classes. Get dozens more tricks trained. Find new places for hiking. Arrange for more playdates with other doggy friends.

|HOBY||Is there anything that might be bothering her by the crate? Forced hot are vent, refrigerator or computer. Have you tried to feed her in the crate be it a meal or a treat like a bully stick with the door open? Do you have a mat inside? If so she might not like it. Is she getting enough exercise and brain games?|

Need help with Crating
I am having issue's with my Shepherd, she is 13 mo's old now. She has been crated since we got her at 3 months. She has destroyed 2 crates. This new behavior started about 2 months ago. We have cable tied, she chews them off, we have cable locked, she chewed it down to the cable, she has bent the doors and frame to the point that she is now hurting herself, nose and face is cut up from the metal on the crate, nothing we have seems to be able to contain her. When she does get out, she tears my daughters room up and drags the trash can out from under the sink and eats the food on the snack counter. I am at my whit’s end with this. Seems to be happening at least 2xs a week. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
