Mister C Thanks everyone!

Yes, we were very lucky to have Maddie for so long. She was diagnosed with severe HD and dumped into a shelter. Not long after we adopted her a vet told us she would be unable to walk by 6 or 7 years old unless she had surgery. But she also had bad elbows and arthritis so if we fixed one hip then we would be on a path of endless surgeries. Instead, we managed her issues through diet, regular exercise, medications and limiting her running/jumping/rough playing. At 15 yrs we got her a cart which she took to immediately and gave her another year of quality life.

We think she is the most beautiful GSD ever. Of course, I'm sure many hold that opinion of their own shepherds and I think we are all correct in our own assessments.

Woof! Er... Um ... Hello Everyone!

Hello,

Just wanted to introduce myself a bit and this looked like the place. So Woof! to all the members.

I've found the forum to be helpful and thanks the members for their contributions.

I'm a GSD addict and appear to be in good company here. I'm currently between shepherds having lost my 16 yr old rescue in November. To fill the hole in my life, I've recently decided to get a pup from Haus Juris in May/June. I plan on upping my game on dog behavior and training in the meantime--so much has changed since I trained Maddie that I feel the need to relearn training theory.

I've included a few pics of Maddie below. The first is Maddie and Sheila (relative's Westy-Poo) on the day they met (Maddie was 10 at the time). The second pic is Maddie's sweet old face at around 15 yrs old.
