Security Question
While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, john and his friend sally both spotted a dalmatian inside a truck with sirens, headed to put out a fire. State what the 2x4 is made of.

MaggieRoseLee First of all not sure about asking a puppy less then 3 months old for a perfect heel on all walks.... but maybe he's just not pulling on the leash and that's what you mean. A 'heel' is a VERY specific and precise behavior that none of us should be requiring on daily walks for a puppy so young.

I agree ith Mary Beth that you are probably seeing NORMAL behavior from a puppy that will bond closer to a fellow dog then a human if another dog is around. This is why the best breeders won't sell two litter mates to the same owner because those pups may never bond with the humans as long as they have each other. So even though you do not have littermates, the same situations can arise --->

Great way to help bond with your puppy (rather than your puppy just bond with your other dog) is doing all the training you SHOULD be working on with your puppy. Great link with information is --->

Good luck! And remember having fun is the most important thing to do!

As in THIS is what your training and time with your puppy should look like!

Mary Beth I have seen other threads on this but where the pup is upset when a child leaves or one of the adults. It was mentioned that this is a type of herding mentality and the pup wants his family all together. I think it is important that you are also training and walking the pup separately. It may help to start them off on the walk side by side, then each take off in a different direction but make a circle and come back together. Start with a short circle and increase the size as the pup learns that it is okay to be apart for a while. Do it several times during the walk.

Obsessive behavior?

So, my 2 1/2 mo. GSD seems to be a bit obsessive with my almost yr old sibe. When I walk him by himself, he's amazing and will Heel right by my side. Training him is so easy, but the only downside is whenever my older dog is around (wether we're walking him or letting them run around at the park) he HAS to be next to her. If my wife and I separate them he'll whine like the world is ending :P

I'm hoping he will grow out of it as long as I keep occasionally walk them separately to the park and put him in a short puppy time-out.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
