I may even become a better shot that some gun owners. Lol.
They effect me just like they effect you. My safety. Weather its me carrying them or somebody else.
(Okay Im not from the US... I get it.. But I have to engage with somebody on a dog forum... No one else seems to be here)
Maybe this discussion should be moved to a gun forum. Personally I don't mind it, but as long as it's here. Its open for comment.
Just a thought.
It has too much political inclination ringing through it for this forum.
Bout time the thread is closed, if you cant accept others views.
I think its you lot who should tread lightly here.
The buy a gun before Obama REDICULOUS MOVE..... Sparked this.
Obama is my political US 'affiliation' so to speak. Even though I dont vote.. US elections have an impact on the whole world, weather you like it or not.
So if you keep the politics out.
Our opinions will also fizzle out.
My personal favourite is still the musket, if anybody cares.

|alexg||Not a place to discuss your political and gun rights leanings. Don't like the topic - move on to another one. You are not going to replace other people's views with yours.|

Ps. I find it reciculous how I actually failed my first driving test on a small technicality. And passed second time, after lessons, and a learners... And have been driving daily all my life..
Yet a tool that is designed to kill, needs not even a basic licensing...
I have to get MOT on a car every year... Get my eyes checked... Etc..
I get fines, if I speed.
I cant drink and drive.
When's the last time somebody who was drunk and armed, gone to prison, for keeping a weapon on a holster?
You might say it is illegal... But they dont go around breathelising gun owners.

I quoted him and video directly, to answer your point on second Amm.
(Funny how he knows, the exact replies people give him, time and time again on why their right to have guns is carved in stone).
His 15 minute piece there... Answers just about every major argument. Its ridiculously good work.
He talks sense. He adds humour. Everybody laughs.
There is some thinking going on in his under the influence brain.
There is no way he could make an american crowd laugh like that, gun owners and not, if you was just speaking complete nonsense.
For me I am subscribed to this thread.
Some of you should probably have guns.
Some of you not so much.
If I was a responsible gun owner, I wouldnt want the amatuers carrying them anyways, giving me a bad name/rep.
They can train in gun schools, until they get certified...
The real gun people, can actually make some money instructing them...

When trouble starts who do you call, 911 they send people with guns. The police are high trained.
"During a poll taken during this class which represented about a half dozen Florida law enforcement agencies, I asked how many train more than twice a year. No hands went up. When asked how many train or qualify with their duty guns only once a year. Everyone raised their hands. Hence, the genesis for this article."
Bolding is mine, qualify is to just shoot at a target for a score, no training.
Police firearms training: How often should you be shooting?

It was cut out where the video started. The last line, was in the video, so thought you would notice.
And yes. Some people need fire-arms.
I just think licensing should be stricter.
I actually dont mind people with fire-arms, who really know what they are talking about/shoot often etc.. From a psychological standpoint also.
Point system, in educational credits... etc.. Just like any professional body... i.e. regulation.
Take them away from the 'general public' and I am happy.
If you love guns enough, you can go through proper licensing and take a substantial amount of time from your daily life.
Same way I think about dogs... They are part of our daily lives, all the time.
Licensing maybe not necessary. Mistakes with dogs, don't often kill people. (This can be argued tho).

Folks, lets leave it at this:
To YOU an auto is necessary. To YOU a firearm is a penile extension.
To ME, an auto is a very handy convenience, I'd hate to lose my ability to drive. It's borderline needed. To ME, a firearm is a necessity. Not having something to protect my farm would be a hardship that I do not want to fathom. I guess a real well setup bow might could get the job done, liken it to a horse vs. a car. Do-able but whoa what a PITA.
Also, using Jim Jefferies(sp?) as a logical argument is absurd. He's a comedian, a funny one that makes me howl with laughter, but as someone to look at for important decisions not the best choice.
The personal attacks can stop too. I have been civil and very polite. I used statistics to back up a point. No name calling or veiled accusations of being illiterate or lacking in intelligence.
With that. Off to go tracking with the pup. Hopefully after going through all the medical crud I've been through this year I won't get shot at again....no really, I've been shot at when tracking and I couldn't even return fire because the shooter was hidden in the woods.
