This is not a vet page so not from a medical source, but you can see - go to the vet immediately is the idea.

Males usually tend to get more issues with crystals and blockages so you never know what's going on.

I would have the urine checked, and a heartworm/tick test done unless he's had that recently done. I'd probably do a fecal while I was there, too.

kjdreyer Everything about that sounds like a urinary tract infection, so I think he needs a vet visit ASAP! But, when you say he was outside (for like the last five years before your got him?) and is now inside, he may also not be housetrained. Repost if you need some help with that, it takes some concentrated time and effort, but GSD's are SUPER easy to housetrain, so that is fixable. But vet check first, since it's impossible to housetrain a dog with a UTI. Good luck!

I also have a 5 yr old(I know thats not old) but he will NOT stop peeing inside. We just got him. He was outside and is now inside. He urine is dark and smells HORRIBLE! IDK what to do.... help
