I live in the Los Angeles area.
CONS: Finding space to run is hard sometimes. Most parks want your dog on a 6" leash. Look around for training areas, sometimes dog groups/clubs rent out their space so you can train freely without a leash. I walk on major streets with my dog or the trails. Most residential streets in the city have dogs that are more than willing to jump that small fence or dig out from underneath the broken fence. Depending where you move some cities are very dog friendly but some are not. You should check it out if you have a choice on where to move beforehand.
PROS: There are a lot more social events to attend with your dog. Lots more people and dogs around to socialize with.
