I would tether if needed. That way he responds. Dr. Yin has some really great methods for a week of puppy training on her website and youtube. She does a tethering and a sit for things. Other than that, a squeaky toy is great and of course, food. The best time to redirect is before the behavior starts - so look for clues that he is going to launch.
And your girl should get some special time and rewarded for putting up with Mr. Piggypants.

|lkcheertex||Good point. Any suggestions on the redirect as he is not so into being redirected at this age. Should I just remove him to his crate if he won't listen?|

|JeanKBBMMMAAN||I always redirect because it's a rude thing for them to do, and if they can do it at home, they think they can do it to anyone, and might get a face full of teeth if they do it to the wrong dog. She is probably giving him license for now, but eventually may retaliate - so better to learn it now, nicely from you. I always just call them away, toss a toy, whatever.|

Puppy trying to mount female
My 13 week old puppy who is neutered (no debate on that timing please, he was a rescue and I didn't have a say) is now trying to mount my 50 lb female. I'm assuming it's a play for power. If she allows, should I stay out of it?
