Suka Not all dogs are going to do well on the same food, even if it's the best food in the world. They are all individuals. I use premium foods and rarely can I get all 3+ dogs onto the same awesome food. It doesn't mean something is wrong with the food; it just means our dogs systems vary.

Top breeders use pro plan because it's cheap

Smaller stools/less fillers and no question it's the best sourced, highest quality control food

NJDobbie I have never understood the hype around Orijen because, using this thread as an example, it is a coin toss whether the animal does well on it. In my local club there is a survey every year and Orijen users are less than 1%, 3 years ago it was over 5%.

I don't think you can simply say it is too rich or whatever, because you don't read or hear about problems on other foods that are even higher in protein and fat.

I just don't think it is well made, it appears that way, but it doesn't seem to hold. Pro Plan doesn't look well made but dogs on average do much better on Pro Plan. I guess that is why top breeders use it.

My5dogs Is the canned Natures Variety from China? If so I need to return I use it as topper. What's a good canned not from China? Fromm? Merrick?

mcdanfam We switched from blue buffalo wilderness to the orijen grain free puppy....their poop got smaller and the smell was better....I guess our pups handle the orijen better than the blue buffalo wilderness....

asja My dog loves Orijen, but it gives her diarrhea. She's had it for months now, so she should be used to it, but it still doesn't seem to agree with her. I have a bag left and I'm only giving her half a cup at a time to get rid of it, and that seems okay.

jocoyn I have tried Orijen and Acana several times and, for a long enough duration to settle and Beau never could handle it. Actually though most dog foods have vitamins sourced in China even if the meat is not.

I give Natures Logic (which uses no synthetic vitamins) and am looking at putting Verus into the roation (they claim their vitamin premix is all USA)
