Boomie59 So are you saying this size is normal? I shouldn't be worried? I mean 8 pounds 13 weeks seems ridiculous everywhere I look I see 20-30 pounds at 13 weeks.

sarah1366 Make sure she's wormed for everything hook worm heart worm lung worm tape worm round worm and again ten days later so if any eggs laid they don't get chance to hatch causr if worms not only won't she put much weight on but she will be skinny my pup romany was runt of litter she was smaller than my cat now shes as big as my male shepherd who is 28 inches at shoulder and as long if not longer so growth can be made up feed good quality dog food and put a vitamin supplement in your personaly use dried seaweed it contains some every vitamin known to man with fantastic results that's what I gave both kane and romany

Boomie59 The vet says she is very skinny. I'm not really sure I can feel her ribs. But small is a better word. If I touch the tips of my fingers together she measures roughly from the mid part of one hand to the other, she's about a hand and a half tall from the ground to her spine and is about a hand wide. I looked up photos of 12 week old gsd's and she is at best a third of their size.

Help urgent puppy growth

I am sure there are a few threads on this but none have answered my question. I have already looked at the growth charts and I took her to the vet.

Here's the issue.

My puppy GS is 13 weeks old and she only weighs 8 pounds not only that she is extremely short I have looked up the charts and pictures of these puppies from birth until one year and she looks like she fits in the 8 week old area.

I looked into dwarfism and I don't think that is the case. I don't know what her feeding habits were before nor do I know how she was cared for. She still has her puppy fur but I can clearly see the racing stripe.
She is full of energy and loves to play with my other dog. She is also very aware and smart learned how to sit and come in one day of owning her.

The bet told me she is about 5 pounds underweight so if she weighed 13 lbs at 13 weeks would that be normal for the smallest one of the litter?

The vet also told me she has hook worms could that be a facto in her extremely small size?

Also is there anything I should have her tested for specifically? I can't afford to test everything.

Please help however you can I'm very worried about my pups health. Also, if you have any suggestions on how I should start feeding such a small puppy that would help tremendously.

Thank you so much
