onyx'girl limited ingredient diet then...venison/duck necks or something she's not use to for a couple of weeks, no supplements either. Or pay for an allergy test. Onyx has chronic ear issues and it's due to dust mite and other environmental allergies. She's also raw fed, and if I had played the elimination game it would have driven me nuts. I chose to pay for the allergy testing to know exactly what she's sensitive to. The only food that showed sensitivity levels was fish, and that wasn't very high.

starburst The air seems fine and she's been like this for months now
Sorry should have also mentioned the vet said she's flea free and prescribes antihistamines to help for 2 weeks.
She stopped within hours of taking the meds...but I ran out and would rather find the root cause.

onyx'girl do you have humidity in the home? Dry air can cause itchy skin. If you are getting static shocks, your air is too dry.

Even one little flea can be the cause of itchy/scratchy's too. And sadly a dog can pick up fleas in winter.

always scratching

OK, basic info:
1.5yr old female GSD
raw fed
not spayed yet ( soon)

The issue is she is always ,always itchy.
She wakes up at all hours of the night to scratch and will even stop playing tug/fetch with us to scratch.
She started scratching the same week we re-did our entire back yard in Cedar wood chips so I assumed she was allergic to the cedar but the yard has now been covered in snow for a few weeks and she hasn't improved,

Any thoughts ?
