Welcome to the forum and good luck with your pup!
Feed your pup in the crate, toss treats in the crate. You don't have to close the door right away so they just go in, eat and can leave when they want.

Welcome Kristina and Piper,
This is the Site to be on if you have a German Shepherd. There are plenty of experienced, knowledgable GS owners here that are always there with good advise.
Post some pictures of Piper, we can't wait to see her!

Hi - I am Kristina and I have a new GSD!
Just a little about me. I am total deaf, have fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and other issues. I did have another dog, but due to some unforeseen issues, we had to rehome him. He was an American Bulldog/Lab mix.
I now have, as of yesterday, a 9 1/2 month old female GSD. Her name is Piper. I am totally new to GSDs and she is not as bushy as most I have seen or even as bushy as her sister.
She did great in the vehicle for the 5 hour drive home. We find that she may not have had much training at all. She will not go into a crate and knows, so far, only "sit".
Eventually, she may become my hearing assistance dog.
I may be asking a ton of questions. Luckily, my trainer has my pup's sister.
