|Betty||I've trained for SDA and really enjoyed the training and the people involved. Really wish it would take off more.|

I agree. I like SDA because the entry levels are, well....... entry level. While the higher levels IMO are harder than IPO. SDA has such a variety of titles that it can be fun for the average pet owner or the most serious competitor. I love this sport and all it has to offer. I do think they need to revise the Police Dog Titles. The jump from PD1 to PD2 is huge! There could easily be three or four PD titles. Cliff you want to get involved in that? Need people with both Police K-9 experience as well as sport experience.

|onyx'girl||Thanks for describing this. I sure wish SDA would take off in my area. Too bad Cali is so far to go to train/trial. I don't think many give SDA enough credit, it tends to be tougher than IPO in some of the exercises for sure.|

Thanks for looking. Yes I did the Police Dog 1. Obedience was okay but Terra got up during the long down so we lost all points for that. She also decided to blow off the last two jumps so we lost four points for that. Everything else went smooth and we squeaked by with a 74 in obedience. In protection Terra did great. Everything was going well until the last out after the courage test. I'm convinced she just couldn't hear me but I had to use a second command so lost three points there. Then I took another point hit on the down command at the judge to report out. I gave her a little correction to make sure she stayed down since she was so lit. Our protection score even with all that was 91.something. I should also mention this was Terra's first time ever working on a dirt field.
Kiersten and Heidi unfortunately didn't pass. They were doing the Protection 2 sleeve title (they already have the Protection 2 suit title). Heidi was screwing around in obedience so Kiersten said screw it and made it a training day. That's why I love her. It's not about passing but making the dog correct so she's not afraid to throw the trial. Their obedience score was 49. In protection Heidi came together a little better. Their biggest deduction was Heidi's blinds run. She casted like in schutzhund instead of coming back to Kiersten so they had a 6 point deduction there then she also needed a second out command which is another 3 point deduction. They still managed an 85 in protection.
It was a very fun trial. It was a new SDA clubs first trial and I'm very proud of how they all did. This club is hooked on SDA now and already planning a spring trial. I can't wait!
