feedback on adding Olive Oil, Coconut Oil to food
New to the forum and would love to hear feedback/recommendations on putting a little bit of olive oil or coconut oil on top of his dry food to help with his coat and possibly stop his itching/scratching - or is there some other oil to help with skin/coat......
some background and my current dilema - Our boy is 5 yrs old; came to us as a rescue dog so he was not picky at all about eating, we fattened him up on Diamond dog food 60+ large breed but after a good 1.5-2 years he started his itching/scratching; we then switched to TOTW for a bit until he put his nose up in the air and wouldn't eat; so in an attempt to eliminate food allergies I switched him to Blue Buffalo Freedom (chicken) grain free, he was good on that for the past 2 months then started I/S and refused to eat his food - but went ahead and started eating Purina Healthy Choice which is my other dogs food (she is 1/2 shep 1/2 boxer senior) - within 1-2 weeks his ears flared up red red, itchy face, itchy paws, scratching all over, puffy muzzle......not good.......off to the store this morning to get benedryl and BB chicken grain free however they didnt have any in stock (fitgured a sign from the Lord to move onto another brand) - wound up purchased TOTW Bison & Venison (maybe chicken allgery too?)- he was a happy boy when I gave him his new food, but now my female is not eating......go figure
thanks for the feedback and sooo happy to be part of a great forum, learning alot already....
