Oliver isn't much of a morning eater. I have to get him a pretty decent workout quickly so he eats his breakfast. I also put a Lil warm water in his kibble to slur it up a bit. Are you feeding him the same food as his breeder was?
Need to just train on the crate. Right now he is seeing it as a place he goes while you leave. When you have time to dedicate a few hours you can get a big step ahead on crate training. (there are tons of good threads on here about that)
Just being outside doesn't mean he thinks it's all potty time.. I would make him go before you bring him in.
If Oliver isn't listening and running around exploring then I tether him to me and we explore together.
Since getting a pup I wake up 1 1/2 hours earlier so I can get him exercised, fed, mentally stimulated, and me getting ready... They are al separate things on my to do list in the morning. It's the only way I know they can get done.
Best of luck

Testing my patience today
My boy is really testing my patience today. He is 20 weeks old and been home with the family now for about 5 days. He's really came out of his shell. Today when I woke up, I let him out of the crate and led him outside to use the bathroom. I then put food and water in his bowl.
1st question: He does not seem to eat hardly at all in the morning and throughout the day he still isnt eating what I would consider alot. The breeder was feeding him dry food with mixed in cooked meats. I am just feeding him dry food. Will he start to like his food and eat more?
While I was getting ready for work I left him outside to do his business and to be able to run around while I'm getting ready. While I'm inside and he's out alone he continues to paw at the screen on the door. I put a chair in front of the door to try and block him but he keeps at it. I have tried to go outside and correct during this behavior but it does not stop it for long. How can I correct this behavior.
After I had finished getting ready I let him inside. My mom was sitting on the couch. I tried to get him to go upstairs and to come in his crate. He didn't want to go upstairs at all. He just ignored me and went to my mom and throughout the downstairs finding anything he could get into. I had to pick him up and guide him upstairs. When upstairs he went every where instead of my room. He knew he was going to be going in that crate and didn't want to go. He went in my bathroom and I went to go get him to put him in the crate. When I went to go get him and started to pee on the bathroom floor. After being outside for almost 45 minutes.
He's seems to have been doing good for the most part on using the bathroom outside. He has had some accidents in the house though. He peed one other time when my dad wasnt looking and pooped once down stairs when no one was looking. Today was the only day that he just peed right in front of me without any hesitation.
