OP, I'm glad the lady was nice and I'm glad that maggie is doing well.
Nikkita, glad you find enjoyment in our 'debates'..I don't think anyone here mentioned being an expert
With that, no point in going in circles, done is done

|llombardo||I would take the dog for a follow up, but unless that follow up visit was discussed with the people I wouldn't go back and ask for it. When my dog was attacked I made it clear after the first vet visit that there would be follow up visits and they did pay for them. Puncture wounds can get infected and I wouldn't take that chance.|

|Nigel||Both vets I've used, follow ups were no charge. Hope Maggie heals quickly and has no lasting effects.|

|Nikitta||God you guys crack me up. I'm sure all the crowned members here give the best advice that is; good very uber smart about this breed are. (I'm not trying to be sarcastic here. I really believe you people are.) and when you bicker, it cracks me up. It's like the gods of Atlantis arguing. /giggles You guys are fantastic and what you know about this breed I would never aspire to know, but when you argue about stuff, I expect the ground to shake, and the world change like the gods on high. It's SO cool. /bows to the gods of GSDs. /giggles Ok I'm toasted.|

I know dogs will be dogs, and accidents happen, but if my dog is at fault, I should be the one to take care of the vet bills.

I dont trust or like doctors, even pet ones. So use your common sense and if the wound is healing well, no soreness or anything visually out of the norm- skip the vet revisit. Human doctors do nothing for me when I crash on my motorcycle so what can a vet do to a properly healing wound? You can spray on some vetricyn to help the healing.
I could stub my toe due to your fault, doesnt mean my 5000 dollar er bill is legit and should be paid off by you. Most of the reason for exorbinant med care is insurance and people lack of calling out the dr on price.

My opinion, part of dog ownership is being responsible for any action of your dog that harms any individual, their animals, or their property.
Dog runs free, doesn't matter if it escaped the house or owner just lets it run. Owner of any unprovoked attacking dog should pay total of any resulting needed medical bill if it is 1 visit or 15 visits to the vet.
