Oh yeah, Mikelia...that's a much better site.
They are just cute!
I had no idea people kept them as pets.

Thanks for the links!! I can't wait to check the forum out and the hedgie den sounds so cute
I'll admit, I didn't feel an 'immediate bond' to this animal...but I'm sure in time he'll have antics and personality like rabbits or ferrets and endear me to his little spiky self.

This is an awesome site. The lady runs a hedgie rescue near me.
I have had hedgehogs - they are mighty cute but not my cup of tea.
A good quality cat food (with proper fat/protein levels) is much healthier than any of the hedgehog diets out there. And bugs - they love mealworms.
They love fleece - fleece hats specifically. They also love wheels but make sure it is solid - no wire for their feet to fall through.
I found them easy to care for but not the most social creatures - although I've known some friendlier ones.

|ShenzisMom||That looks HUGE!! I bet it would keep a hedgie pretty darn happy too and for 40 bucks I consider it a steal Thanks a bunch!|

This is the cage I got from wayfair..It's pretty large, I don't imagine you'd need one this big for a hedgehog I ended up paying only 39.00 free shipping, because it was missing a couple clips.

Thanks! I'll take a look at ebay and the classifieds =) I've seen these neat c+c cages though, it looks great... are they expensive?
Here's the current setup. The tank measures 13 inches H , 30L, 12W. So 2.5 square feet? He makes this weird sound...almost like he's breathing really noisy? I was told it's just him talking...I have no idea if its normal! He doesn't do it constantly only when he knows I'm around. He's kind of cute!

I don't have hedgehogs, but have other critters,,I'd put him in a hamster/gueina (sp) pig /rabbit type cage , the ones with wire vs an aquarium,,better air flow.
You can find them pretty cheap on either ebay, or I bought one on wayfair.com pretty cheap...Use it for my baby chickens)

My hubby likes to be freezing, so I've put him in the spare room so he can be warm with a towel over his tank.
He's been pretty quiet, havn't heard anything. I'm going to try and leave him alone for a few days to get used to the new sounds and smells.
I'm also going to invest in getting him a better tank. He's in a terrarium. I don't know about airflow and all that but it doesn't even look to me like he has enough room to move? I'll measure it tomorrow... Maybe you can tell me if I'm right??
Thanks everyone for your help and comments
