My 8 month old is the complete opposite. People knock. My two toy dogs bark up a storm. Dexter just yawns and rolls over. I wish he would bark a little when someone is at the door .
Until someone more knowledgeable stops by here's a link to a YouTube video. I get lots of training tips from there. Maybe working it into a silent command when you tell her to be quiet, she stops barking. Hope it helps.

Alarm barking/house watching
Our 19 month old Shepherd likes to keep an eye on the house. Generally, she doesn't bark even when playing with people or other dogs but when people knock at the door or if she sees any critter walking across the lawn she goes berserk. Burse up and rapid fire barking it can be difficult to bring her down and inviting a guest in the midst of her 'enthusiasm' can be uncomfortable for all parties.
I don't want her to be completely silent as I do appreciate both her letting outsiders know she's there as well as alerting us to someone coming up the lane but I'd REALLY like to be able to offer a command where she'll cease and hold. Any suggestions on training this? She's very quick to learn (i'm always amazed at her affinity to please).
