The quality of that x-ray is so low-res that I can't tell much of anything. The positioning is not ideal. If this is a dog you're going to put training and time into, find a specialist and get a second opinion.

|Lucy Dog||Keep him on the same diet that he's on and skip the science diet crap. If he's not showing any symptoms and you're still worried, get x-rays done at 2 years old and send them to the OFA for grading. You can always start supplementing glucosamine as a precaution. And I'd find a different vet.|

I feel that sometimes just being precautious might get you into more trouble than ease of mind. Thanks for your replies again...

You need to find out details, what does "good but not perfect" mean?
What benefit will changing diets have?

The xray pictured is not clean enough for me to really give an opinion... the right does, maybe, show a slightly smaller "ball."
I am not familiar with the Acana other than it is considered high quality. Thinking it is at least as good as the Hill's.
Perhaps adding some joint supplements rather than changing foods. Often, the dog food manufacturer (Acana) has a veterinary nutrionist on standby and will make suggestions if you call or email.

Hips X rays ...Doctor is concerned ...any advise ???
On monday i went my my 6,5 mth GSD for an orthopedic check and had him X rayed. The doctor said that the overall picture is rather good but not perfect. He is a bit concerned for the right hip. Told me to change his diet ( currently on ACANA LBP) to Hills gd and to resrtict a bit his exercise ....also advised we have him x rayed again before he become 8 mths old. I am so confused ....the dog did not show any kinetic issues ...i just took him there for a precaution ....i was also about to start hime IPO training which now will be postponed ...i guess. May i kindly ask for any of you with more experience than me what do you think of the pictures ....any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
