Thank you everyone for your opinions. I value each of them! I am so happy I am not getting blasted for the long time he is going to be alone. I feel so bad for him but, we will do the best we can do for him! We will get the dog walker to come in and take care of him. She seems like a super nice lady. Still have to meet with her a few times before I am going to feel 100% comfortable but she comes with Police Checks and as many references as we want. She also walks dogs in our area so we could always go ask them. She is retired with no kids, her life is now these dogs.
She says to me on the phone, you pay for an hour but I can't remember the last time I only spent one hour with one of the dogs I take care of.
Makes me feel good that she is not in it for the money. She only charges $60 a week and if we need anything on the weekends or Holidays she does it for free..... She is mostly just getting back what she puts in with gas etc.
On the job side, I went for the Physical test today. Kicked my butt but I really feel good about it!

I have a fenced in backyard but within that area I have a nice 6 x 5 welded wire kennel that also is covered (welded wire) with a canvas cover on top and the back. There is a dog proof doghouse inside. The kennel could be locked as well as the gates into the yard. Also my yard is not in a foot traffic area. So I felt comfortable leaving her in the kennel while I was at work. I didn't trust her to have access to the house or run free in the fenced in yard until a year old, as I recall. And I definitely had her doing that while I was home so I could monitor her behavior. One last consideration for me was to exercise her really well before I left for the day. That meant getting up early and even having a head lamp with glow-in-the-dark balls in the winter to get her out and exercised before I left for work. It turned out well, she was and is a very good dog and uses a dog door for the last couple of years while I am gone. But you need to assess if your area is safe enough.

The rest is a 4 1/2 foot rock wall with a fence on top of that. And dig, no. We have puppy proofed the bottoms of the fence.
If I had a normal backyard and one that was close to the street, then I probably wouldn't let her out without me home.

is there any chance your dog can dig out or climb out?

I see it's not popular opinion, but Mia has full access to the back yard 24/7. She has a large room all to herself when she's alone and a doggy door that leads to the backyard. We've never had any problem with it.
Far from the road and solid fencing.

|TAR HEEL MOM||
I never leave my dogs outside (and I have a great, large fenced yard) when I am not home because I am close to a main road and people are always going by and seeing my dogs outside playing when I am home. I am literally scared that someone might steal them.
Good luck with the job. I hope it all works out!

i'm glad you found a sitter. i wouldn't let my 6 month old
pup have access to the yard when i'm away. crate him
or let him stay in the area you already have for him. ask
the sitter to come in a couple times to give him a break.

|Sibze||I agree it scares me letting him out but it also scares me leaving him alone for so long I feel bad for him. I need to take this job if I get the offer. My current job is effecting my health but just worry about my little guy|

I'm with kiya, , have you been letting him use the doggie door during the day "now"?
If it's going ok, I may continue that, or maybe limit it to half a day?? The dog walker could put him in or out at whatever time during the day..?
I wouldn't leave him out at nite..He'll probably sleep at nite anyhow..
I'm just paranoid about leaving any of my dogs outside unattended, to many things can happen, like theft
