|readaboutdogs||We started using the springtime products and haven't had any itchy spots/ chew spots. Mine were adults so don't know about when to start puppies. I use fresh factors, omega 3 6 9, and the joint health. Really helped their coat.|

|Mary Beth||Since Lilah is fine, it seems to me that Sammy has gotten into the habit of chewing because it feels so good. It itches so he chews the hair off , gets some relief - then when the hair starts to grow back - it itches - so he chews again. It is a nasty cycle. My Sting had a small sore this spring on his leg, and he kept chewing at it so it got bigger. The vet said it was obsessive compulsive. I got some Natural Touch Chew Not spray that also had tea oil in it to help healing and a bitter taste to deter him from chewing. But I also discouraged from chewing and broke the cycle. When he would start to - I would whistle or make some type of noise - to get his attention - then I would praise him for looking up. I also would redirect him and give him his bear toy to chew on that. It took about a month of watching and redirecting before everything healed up.|

Well Samson and Delilah are 8 months now and growing fast! We plan on switching to adult food this week and are going to stick with the Blue Buffalo Wilderness formula as the pups love it.
Anyways onto the issue, about two weeks back Sammy and Lilah starting getting itchy. We took both pups to the vets when we noticed that Samson chewed a spot raw. The vet took some skin samples, put both on antibiotics and gave us cream for Samsons raw spot. She also shaved a small area around the spot so we could keep it clean more easily.
We've done the flee treatment and the vets say they are clean and all the tests were fine. Now a couple of weeks have gone by and Delilah is fine but Sammy seems to be getting worse. We can't stop him from itching and made an appointment to see the vet again tomorrow. The spot he initially chewed raw healed great but now he has another spot near his tail.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get ahead of this? My last GSD had some chewing issues but nothing this bad and I don't want my little buddy to suffer. I am going to see what the vet says this time but if anyone has any remedies they use please list them.
