I've used them with many dogs. The thundershirt has varying degrees of helpfulness. Some owners see no effect while others notice their dog is calmer and therefore more receptive to training but it doesn't cure the problem.

|huntergreen||how about one of those puzzle toys that lets a treat out every so often. maybe it would occupy her while you are out.|

|Stevenzachsmom||How old is Sage now? You said she was 11 months when you started leaving her out. First she was not destructive. How many weeks/months of freedom did she have, before she became destructive? Do you leave a television or radio on for her while you are gone? Have there been any changes to your schedule? Dogs can be very sensitive to change. They tend to like routines. I adopted my girl as an adult. Originally, I did not crate her. She didn't bother a thing. About a year later, she became destructive. She chewed the coffee table, destroyed a cell phone and a watch. My father was in the hospital. I was coming and going at odd times. Her routine was gone and it caused problems. Have there been any changes in your neighborhood - construction work or what not? Just some things to think about.|

The thundershirt will help calm her while you counter condition the anxiety. It's not an instead of thing but something to help with the process.
There are plenty of threads with tons of ideas on how to work through separation anxiety. A good start is the I'll Be Home Soon booklet by Patricia McConnell. It's going to be slow desensitization to you leaving and not a quick "train it out".
