I was pretty much in the same boat, switched to pre-made raw in late July, I've got my guy on Nature's Variety Instinct Raw (venison). Originally started out on chicken but he was still having some irritation/allergy issues so I switched him to venison after 3 weeks on chicken and he's been doing fantastic, all of his issues have cleared up.
It is pricey, but until you've figured out how to go about getting your own meat together, or discovering what protein your dog will do well on, this seems to be a fantastic way of seeing how your dog will react to it instead of spending $$$$ on several pounds of raw meat only to find out it's not suitable.
I've been getting the 6lb bags (12 eight ounce patties) and feeding twice a day.

New to RAW-need advice on buying
Going to be switching to RAW asap due to illness. But, we need to start this process right away. Since I have no clue on how to make my own right now, I will have to depend on buying it until I can educate myself more..
So, the vet suggested buying the RAW food for now. It appears there are a numerous amount of premade already-how in the world do I choose? Any advice would be FABULOUS!!!!!! thank you
