|Galathiel||I took my pup out on leash (still do most of the time). He always uses the bathroom now in the same spots since I led him to the same spots whenever we went out.|

This is our second week with or 14wk gsd. He users it in basically the same area. He does alot better if we stay out with him. You could also tie him out in the area you want him to use it in on potty breaks. The arts will have his urine and potty Sents and he will know to go there

I think there is a way to train a dog to 'go' in a certain area in the yard but I'm not sure. I've found that some dogs are just genetically? programmed to pick a spot and 'go' there. My husky uses most of the yard but Zeeva uses a certain part of the yard without any training. She picked the spot...
Maybe take your pup to the area you want him to go in, use a command like 'get busy' that he associates with going potty and treat once he uses that spot...

New GS Owner
My wife and I recently brought home a 9 wk old gs and he is doing great got him to go to bed at 11:00 and up aas far as i am concerned but i would like some info on if we are doing things the right way in order to better our training. We have a crate and exercise pen that is set up in the kitchen that he is already used to and sleeps in there when we are home with the door open as long as we are around . We then move the crate to our room at night time so he can sleep close to us and he made a few noices the first night and u can hear the crate rattle sometimes during the night but in only 3 nights we t 6:30 . My wife works during the wk and i work outta town quite a bit and he is gonna be at home next week by himself from 8:30 to 12 and then a puppy sitter is coming to walk n feed him and then my wife gets home at 4:30. Im just curious if its ok for him to be aloud to have his crate open to his exercise pen in the kitchen with a potty pad during those 4 hr time frames. Or is that saying its ok for him to pee in the house. Another question I had is that he would not go to the bathroom in our yard so we took him behind our house to a green area and he loves it back there , ( he has gone to the bathroom in the yard since then but only because we were late getting him outside and another time we were playing with the ball) but it was in the wrong spots in the yard. How do I get him to want to pee where we want him to in the yard. And of course the bitting , he always wantrs to nip at things even after we say no or ouch , is there anything else we can do. Hope i can get some answers.
