|jocoyn||I bought a 48 inch vari-kennel and I love it. Too many paws trapped under crate wires and collar caught in them as well ( a simple buckle collar with no tag). So now my collarless dog is in the vari-kennel at night or when I am gone.|

We are on our second crate right now with Maggie. The first was from my wife's mom. Then picked one at a neighborhood garage sale. They were asking $20 and I talked them down to $15. It's big enough for my wife and myself to fit into..lol. It has 2 openings 1 in the front and 1on the side. Best $15 we've spent on her yet. She loves it she has so much room to move around and sit up.

Get the biggest crate you can so you don't have to do it again...they grow fast. Get one with a divider (or make a divider) for when they're smaller.
Just my two cents...

I just got a 42inch crate for my pup shes 11 weeks, breeder said I shouldn't need any bigger then that its really only the boys that need bigger, but I can't see her going to the toilet in it as she'd end up laying in her own faeces soon enough.
I was going to divide it with some cardboard, but seeing her in it I don't feel the need.

my pup came home at 9 weeks old. i had a crate that couls house
a full grown Great Dane. my pup was fine in the xxl crate. i didn't
use dividers. my pup was in and out of the crate a lot. overnight
he was out every 2 hours. the only time my pup went in his crate
was when he was sick but that was my fault for leaving in his to long
without a break.

Choosing the right crate
My puppy arrived from Slovakia in a plastic crate. It's been a wonderful crate, but he is starting to out grow it. My pup currently weighs 30 lbs, and he is predicted to grow to one of the largest - around 90 lbs! Not sure if I should get a big crate that he can grow into, or if I should get a mid-size crate, and then buy another one later when he gets even bigger. It sure would be nice to save some money, but I have heard they can go to the bathroom in there if there is too much space. Any recommendations on size? I'm also very interested to know if brand matters when shopping for one? My pup is 10 out of 10 on hardness, so I can't afford a weak crate. He needs to be safe and not break out of it...ever!! Thank you for any suggestions!
