|Mary Beth||Glad it helped. You probably already know this - but make the adjustment slowly over 3 weeks - gradually increasing the new to the old to avoid tummy upsets.|

|Springbrz||Thank you for the suggestion. I just looked up Solid Gold Wolfcub. Looks like that is a great choice for Ziva. Will try it and let you know how it goes.|

|Mary Beth||I would try her on Solid Gold Wolfcub or their Hund und Flocken.|

Need help...food allergies? (long post)
I need help finding a good safe calcium level food for Ziva. I'll give you her history. Brought her home at 7 weeks at just 4.8 lbs. (she was so tiny and so sweet). Vet right away. She had hookworm, coccidia and puppy pyoderma. Vet dewormed (several times, actually) until fecal was negative. Gave her the appropriate meds for the coccidia and pyoderma. Ziva's coat was dull and her skin flaky needless to say. We started her on Wellness Super5mix large breed puppy food. She started gaining weight and was eating pretty well. Her skin and coat still weren't great so I added salmon oil everyday and a raw egg every other day. Coat/skin improved in days. She was still itchy. around 10 weeks we started giving her a turkey neck for lunch. That seemed to be tolerated well. She liked the raw neck so much she started getting fussy about eating kibble. So at 12 weeks we switched her to raw diet. Did a lot of research and read many posts her on raw feeding. Started with chicken. Seemed to go ok but quickly discovered I had to remove all the skin or we had mooshy poops. Seemed the only way to get solid poops was to give a bit to much bone as well. Tried adding pumpkin. She won't touch the stuff. After 2 weeks things were going pretty good. Added pork. That was a no go. Rocket butt and a full body rash and heavy itching. That lead to another bout of Puppy Pyoderma (more antibiotics). Back to chicken and turkey necks. Next we added Green Tripe. That was a huge hit. Started adding 10% organ meat (5% liver) daily based on amount of food per day next. She was growing well and gaining weight steadily (about 2-3 lbs per week) but she was still itchy all the time. Oddly her skin and coat looked great. She was so soft and shiny and no flaky skin. We decided to give her some turkey muscle meat (cut in cubes). Every time it came back up hours later undigested. Eating just chicken wasn't balanced and I was suspecting she was also allergic to chicken since she was always itchy. Scapped the raw diet 2 weeks ago. Decided on Nature's Variety Instinct LID Lamb kibble (have to mix with canned or she won't eat...after eating raw she got picky ). Ziva is doing much better. No more itchy skin, no rahes.
Here's my concern. I saw posted here that NV Instinct is very high in calcium. The bag says 2% min. which I know is to high for a GSD pup. Anyone know of a better choice for kibble given Ziva doesn't tolerate chicken, pork and possibly turkey. I really appreciate any suggestions. We want to give her the best chance at a long and healthy life. We know that starts with a good and healthy diet meeting her needs.
Sorry for the long post...I figure giving complete history will help get the best advice.
Thanks in advance!
