|GSD07||If she has an infection in her ear then the ear hurts a lot. Do not wash her ear and just put medicine drops and massage the ear from outside. I had a similar problem when my dog was a pup, and discussed it with the vet. So after initial cleaning the vet prescribed an ear ointment and told me just to put two drops in two times a day without any cleaning. The poor ear was pretty greasy. After a week I was able to clean the ear with a cotton swab without any problems because it didn't hurt anymore.|

I've never had to clean ears on a puppy, but if you can get her to accept a gentle finger in her ear and massage a little to where she becomes comfortable, then soak a cotton ball with the cleaner and use that in the same fashion to clean her ear. If you squeeze the cotton, the solution will run down to the lower part of the ear. After she accepts that, you should be able to add the drops to her ears. Not a one step process. Later on you should be able to put solution directly in her ears.|

Help with ear meds!
Hi, I am new here and in need of some advice. My pups name is Akasha, she is 13 weeks old. She had a vet appointment last Thursday for more shots and the vet said she had an ear infection in her right ear. She cleaned both ears and put drops of medicine in, instructed me to use the ear wash once a day and the medicine drops twice a day. My problem is that Akasha doesn't like this at all and cries and does everything she can to free herself. We've tried offering a treat, talking to her calmly, etc., but it doesn't help. This morning I barely got the wash in and wasn't able to clean her ears with a cotton swab, she struggled and cried so bad and even wet herself. I wasn't able to get the medicine drops in and don't know what to do to make this less traumatic for her. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
