I started Chloe in flyball about 3 years ago. There were hardly any GSDs in the sport (or at least in our region). Over this time, I have seen an increase of GSDs in flyball and I'm very excited. It's a great sport for the dogs and for us people and the dogs just love it. For more flyball information there are two organizations that hold tournaments NAFA and U-FLI

Great action shot of Chloe. Always fun to find a sport you and your dogs can enjoy.
We tried Flyball but found our speed wasn't good enough. We had a great time, when the girls weren't trying to gather all the balls.

When I started running Chloe, she was running somewhere around 8 second runs, with time, patience, and practice she is now running times in the low 5 seconds. Most teams would have turned us down, now she is one of the best dogs on our team, still not the fastest dog, but a very consistant dog. My suggestion, if you and your dogs were having fun, keep doing it, but find another team! |
