Hi, it's been a long time since I've visited this forum or been able to do doggie stuff, but I'd like to get going again. I'd like to go play in the snow with Annie -- is there anyone in this area who snowshoes with their dog or does any other snow sport?
I'm a complete novice at doing anything other than running around in snowboots in the snow in the backyard, but I'll try almost anything once. |

I'm not out there, but I'm very much active in skijoring here. You'll see a thread in this section about it for more information. I'd suggest doing a google search for skijoring in your area. Many people here in Vermont are into it and although I usually go alone with my dogs I occasionally take them to places where others are doing it as well. There are skijoring centers around the country and I learned from one here 10 miles away in the Mad River Valley about 5 years ago.

Oh it's great exercise. I still have to be competent as a cross country skier. A person should be at least an intermediate x-country skier before taking up the sport. Lessons are alot cheaper though than downhill skiing. I've been skiing for about 40 years now so well versed in it. You must be able to control your turns and make actual progress on your own as well as stop. The dogs are an assist and not the sole means of propulsion. They don't just pull and you hang on.

I'm in Prosser, halfway between Yakima and the TriCities. Where are you, Black GSD?
Kathy, backatcha! Are you still training nearby? I'd love to get together. Are you doing any snow stuff? |

I know where Prosser is.
I worked there one summer when I was in High School.I am in Coulee City. 120 miles north of the Tri-Cities. (30 miles south of Grand Coulee Dam.)
