Today is Ozzy's first flyball tournament. He'll be running singles and pairs.
I've been up since a little bit before 3 a.m. out of excitement (and the fact the foster cat insists on giving me a full body massage throughout the night). There's going to be agility, dock diving, lure coursing, and herding instinct where the tournament will be held. So excited! Got everything ready last night so I wouldn't forget anything. I even remembered sunscreen this time! (I still have a farmer's tan from the demo in November....)

good luck. Ozzy, remember pre-game intimidation
is ok. when you see a dog your size or smaller that you're competing against give them a growl or pee near them and look at their human with the "what" face.

Good luck! The club I train with isn't going to be there, but I think a couple of the members will be - they took some of the equipment with them when they left practice last weekend, and one of the members actually lives in AZ. She competes with Marin Running Riot, but does most of her training with a club closer to home, not sure which one.

I'm finally back from the tournament. I am EXHAUSTED. So is Ozz-man. He did AWESOME. He only messed up on one run, probably because I was as confused as he was.
First runs - PERFECT. He was a little weird on the box all day, but other than that, flawless. He ran his singles against a Min Pin that has been training for over 2 years, and she was still going around the hurdles and bobbling.... She didn't have one clean run, and all four of Ozzy's were perfect. His pairs were... eh. He only got to do one today, unfortunately. We had to finish up a few races early because it got dark. I was releasing him too far off to the right, so he'd avoid the first hurdle and go over the last three. Then one of the dogs in the other lane came into his, but that didn't throw him off. Krissy, the dog he was paired up with, dropped her ball on one run, and that distracted him. Again, went around the first hurdle, came back on all 4 perfect. And again, the other dog came into his lane. (Was then pulled). Singles by himself (no dog in other lane), absolutely flawless. Even though he did have some trouble with the pairs heat he did, and box awkwardness, I'm SO proud of him. I figured he'd do fairly well, but he FAR exceeded my expectations. We were even on mats, which he's never run on before. He was getting all kinds of compliments and comments, since he's only been training since late October/early November. Pics/video to come.

How did your second day go? The tournament we were at raced for 11 hours yesterday! Today we got booted from the double elimination bracket pretty early and got to head home about 2.
