Can't wait to try dock diving with Halo, I don't know if she'll jump all that far, but she WILL jump into water, which is more than I can say about Keefer - in his one and only dock diving experience he just fell into the water headfirst a few time, you couldn't really call it a jump, lol!

I took some agility classes with Dena and it was fun, but there is a LOT to learn, so unless you've got equipment of your own (and a place to USE it!) it can take a long time to get good enough to enter a trial. I do plan to take a class with Halo at some point, to see how she does.

Right now we're taking our second flyball class, and she's doing really well. We're having tons of fun, and since it's about running fast, jumping, retrieving a ball, and tugging, it's tailor-made for her!

I also have both dogs in scent classes, and that's been fun too.

Sled Dog Racing

I love watching huskies do what they love most in life which is run. I love when I bring out the harnesses that the kennel erupts into screams and howls saying "OMG IT'S GO TIME!". That along with being in beautiful winter scenes and the friendly people makes for an awesome and fun sport.
It's more than a sport though really...it's lifestyle. Once you get "bit by the bug" it slowly takes over your life.

My GSD, Ellie, loves being a part time sled dog and is the first dog I trained to be a leader. She used to be on my race team but now she takes people on rides, bikejors, and helps me train new dogs and leaders.

I would also like to get into Agility one of these days. I know Ellie would love it!

I really enjoy agility, but I love obedience. I love building a rapport with my dogs. I think there is something beautiful in the moment when a dog dances in the heeling or complies happily to a softly spoken command.

Now if the dogs could choose, Helki would say lure coursing, Gavin would want to go herding, and Zen would go for the bitework. :-D

I would love to try flyball and lure coursing but it's just not available in this area- so it's still sheep herding for us

I have heard of people kicking their dogs in schutzhund trials, and I have watched a person severely punishing a dog in an obedience trial -- nothing is worth that in my opinion. Whether my dog takes blue, red, yellow, white, green or even an NQ, when we come out of the ring, I am praising the dog and happy.

I have been to too many obedience/rally trials to see a huge change in personality between the two. I have been in both rings and qualified, earned titles, and taken first place in both. I prefer Rally. There are more dogs, and the people are more human -- I like their attitudes.

I have played with sheep, and trained a few in agility, and will probably do tracking some time soon, maybe with Bear -- she has a NOSE. But I LIKE Rally. To me it is my entry with the dog. Once a get a Rally title and a CGC, then I can go on in Rally or go over to obedience -- yuck, or try agility (not to trial, too slow), I have dabbled in conformation too. Whatever I do, I want it to be fun for dog and owner.
All right, we get it, everyone who does regular obedience and not Rally is a snob and a jerk. I swear anytime regular obedience and rally is brought up, you have to go out of your way and crap on people. Everyone who does just Rally is a good person, if you do only regular obedience or Schutzhund, your a dog abuser and a jerk its getting old.

Back to the actual topic.....My favorite is probably obedience. It's what I've spent the most time working on. My dog enjoys it immensly, too, his tail is always wagging like crazy. We also enjoy lure coursing, tracking, road trials, and I'm TRYING to get him started in dock diving.

Sheep Herding. It just amazes me what the dogs can do.
