Default Skijoring harness?

So, I have been looking to buy a proper harness for myself to go skijoring. Currently it is more of a hold the rope and go sport, which unfortunately doesn't allow me to use my poles. They seem pretty pricey for a decent looking one ($100ish), but I was thinking, would a rock climbing harness do the trick? I can't really see why not, except for maybe the angle of line attachment between the wearer and the dog may be different. Pretty nice ones go on sale of less than $50 and they look more comfy than the proper skijor harnesses. It would be great if any experienced skijorers could chime and in let me know if this is a good idea or if it will end up being a waste of money.

sleddogcentral.com has an equipment retailers section on their website. I have one from Windigo Outfitters- located in Iron River WI.

Rock climbing harnesses should work just fine, since they are worn low. I personally purchased the "seat style" windsurfing harness.... I got it for under $50 on ebay. I actually like it better than the "belt style" skijoring harnesses.
