Default safety issue? lure course in wet weather?

Hi there,

We have slots scheduled for the lure course today, but it's been raining and promises to rain off and on all day.

I'm thinking it's not safe to take the furkids onto wet, slippery grass to run so fast. Seems like that's just an injury waiting to happen.

But since I'm new to all of this, I'm asking for input ... do you and your furkids do the lure course if it's wet?

I can tell you that it is not safe to run in the wet. My greyhound broke his front leg when he slipped on the wet grass, I even have it on video. I knew I shouldn't run him, but he wanted to go so bad and it's so much fun, I ignored myself and did it anyway.

We didn't go, they actually canceled it but I would not have gone anyway. I just couldn't get past the idea that it just didn't seem safe. Thanks for your reply, Elaine

Alot depends on the length of the grass (if it's really short the dogs nails can get traction) and the skill of the operator. It's the turns where you have to really be careful and I can slow a dog down on the turns or speed them up.

If I wouldn't let MY dogs run then I won't let any dogs run.
