Had to share this, because I'm so excited for the person who just adopted Beyco. Several of the guys I ride with in the Patriot Guard were dog handlers in Vietnam. Back then, they could not bring their partners home and one was even ordered to shoot his before they pulled out. They've never forgot and have pushed hard for these magnificent dogs to be adopted after service. In fact, it's getting difficult now to get one of these dogs. But he finally got a beautiful sable GSD veteran of the USMC. A very happy ending for everyone involved!

I want to thank you guys. The Patriot Guard of San Jose CA escorted my friend last Saturday from Moffet Field CA to his final resting place. Both when he came in on Weds. and then again for the services on Sat. Alice (oh and Gar) got to hang out with them during the graveside sevices. Thanks it meant a lot to his mother, friends and family. Gar knows a lot of the same type of guys. We left almost 10,000 dogs behind in Vietnam. Bless these guys trying to fix a horrible mistake on our part as a country. |

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your friend, and I'm glad to hear that he got the goodbye that a hero deserves, and his family got some comfort from it. That's why we do what we do. You don't have to thank us. We are just a group of diverse individual volunteers who come together to do what we believe is the right thing, and we feel truly honored to be able to do it.
Beyco seems to be fitting right in, and I suspect is one very spoiled and honored military retiree. As you can see, she suffers no lack of attention while in the flag line. |
