Hello again , I stopped in at the show this morning. Yes its the one in Monroe. Its hosted my the Monroe kennel club. There is no specialty class for the GSD .But there were a lot of Labs,Boxers ,Aussies....Terriers ect... .Tomorrow is the all breed. Hopefully I will get a chance o stop in ! I had Rainer (my pup) with me and everyone complimented me on his gait. He is a nice mover. So that was nice ! I will see if I can find your friend there tomorrow , Thank you again.
Is it the show in monroe? If it is a friend f ours is showing her shepherd there this weekend, her name is shelly and she has a son that is doing extremely well in juniors showing afghans , bulldogs pugs and shepherds among other dogs. I know she is showing her dog reigner but she has a handler showing for her. She is from ontario she is short with long black hair, she will definatley be outside the ring. She will be able to answer alot of your questions you have , juniors showing etc. If you are talking to her just say brian from safice kennels , said to talk to her. Shelly loves talking dogs at least to my wife . Have fun at the show this weekend
Thank you for the response. We are not exactly certain yet what type we are going to do yet. Of course we have to wait and see how he actually turns out. I will probably run him in specialty puppy class just to see how he looks against the competition. There is a all breed show here in my town this weekend that I will be attending . I plan on talking to a few conformation handlers to get some information also. Thank you again for your help..He is so playful...he does sit for treats and so forth , but getting him to focus on me....lol , still challenging !
We start stacking when they are a few weeks old, while they are standing we will place a piece of cheese in front of there nose and with our other hand move the back feet in a stack position, always making it fun. i wouldnt expect a puppy to stay focused for too long.... One thing to have him gain focus on you is have him do a sit in front of you and when he sits and looks you in the eyes , give him a treat right away,. After a while you will see that focus. Always make it fun. As far as trotting a ahead thats not a bad thing in confirmation as long as it is not to far ahead and it sis a nice gate. Are you thinking of showing him in the all breed or specialty ring?
Hello , I am located in Michigan . I have owned German Shepherds for ever .My parents used to breed and compete in Shutzhund , I myself was involved in obedience in Michigan as a teen . My son now wants to get into the conformation side of things as a Junior handler he is 11.I just obtained a nice pup from a breeding arrangement and if your willing could use a little advice, How and when do I begin stacking him? What is the best way to achieve this? He has a nice gait to him and he naturally stops pretty well, with a little stability I think he will be alright. My problem with him is focus, is he to young to expect to stay still? Obedience I know ! That I can make a game and fun ! This is a whole new game. He trots ahead of us nicely ( even though every thing in me says --- bring him back, lol) . You have beautiful dogs ! My dogs are all workers , not show....Kada is obedience / scent trained, Rugur is shutzhund and Deeter is our guard dog . Looking forward to hearing from you !
